  CLEARING AND FORWARDING OPERATIONS

The Clearing and Forwarding as an agent specializes in customs clearing and forwarding operations provides high quality clearing and forwarding services to their clients in a cost effective manner for their imports and exports arrangement of government consignments and public officers’ Personal effects. It offers clearing and forwarding services on goods imported to Tanzania through Ocean, Air and Land. We are customer focused, customer driven and strive passionately to provide an excellent and professional level of personalized service to our clients.

Procedure be followed by the Agency’s Client in need for the service

Customs Clearing and Forwarding activities call for participation of two parties: the consignee, on one party, and the clearing and forwarding agent, on the other. The following are the requirements that the consignee must fulfill to allow Agency to successfully provide clearing and forwarding services:-

i)         Authorization Letter:  A client/consignee must write a letter to authorize FREIGHT AFRICA AGENCIES (T) LTD to clear his/her consignment.

ii)       Import documents requirement: For every consignment the client shall be required to submit all necessary documents before the consignment arrival date and the following are the necessary documents to submit:

Bill of Lading/Airway Bill
Final Commercial Invoice
Certificate of Origin
Packing List
Copy of Tax Identification Number certificate
Export Certificate and related local permits required, e.g. Tanzania Food and Drug Authority, Government Chemical Agency permit, TBS e.tc.,
VAT exemption if any.
Note that if these documents are submitted on time, i.e. at least two (2) and at least seven (7) working days for airport and port consignment respectively before the consignment arrival date, the Agency may within three (3) and within seven (7) days to clear the consignment from the airport and port respectively. However nature of the consignment may delay the process.  Nonetheless for emergency consignment through the airport, the Agent may clear it for one day by the use of Form C.15 issued and approved by TRA.
